From July 23 to 26, 2024, a delegation of Dehong Teachers' College (DTC) conducted a four-day educational exchange visit to Thailand’s Panyapiwat Institute of Management (PIM), Kamphaeng Phet Rajabhat University (KPRU), and Chiang Rai Rajabhat University (CRRU). The delegation consisted of President Yang Minghong, Li Lifang, leader of the School of Foreign Languages, and Chang Xiaoqu, Thai language interpreter.
During the visit, the delegation received warm receptions from the three universities. Through campus tours and meetings with senior university leaders, the delegation gained in-depth insights into the host institutions’ educational history, distinctive features, academic resources, and international student programs. These interactions facilitated discussions on deepening collaboration in areas such as joint student training programs, faculty academic advancement, and cultural exchange initiatives.

On July 23, the delegation visited PIM and met with Dr. Pornvipa Pacharintanakul (Vice President for Academic Affairs), Dr. Somrot Gomolrawanich (Vice President), and Dr. He Rongliang (Director of the Chinese Student Center). Both sides engaged in detailed discussions on joint training programs for Thai language students and faculty academic development, expressing mutual aspirations to collaborate across multiple fields to cultivate globally competitive professionals.
Faculty-Student Communication at Kamphaeng Phet Rajabhat University
On July 24, the delegation visited KPRU. The two institutions had previously signed a joint student training agreement and an educational cooperation agreement in December 2023. The first batch of Thai language students from DTC under this program recently arrived at KPRU and commenced their studies. Building on the existing agreements, the discussions focused on refining plans for undergraduate joint training, faculty development, and academic advancement, aiming to expedite the implementation of collaborative projects.

During the visit, President Yang Minghong, accompanied by KPRU President Boonyanoo Promprasith, toured the campus to observe the learning and living environment of DTC’s Thai language students. President Yang encouraged the students to adapt quickly, excel in their studies, and serve as cultural ambassadors to strengthen Sino-Thai ties.

On July 25, the delegation visited CRRU and met with Vice President Sutha Kraisuwan and other representatives. Vice President Sutha Kraisuwan extended a warm welcome to the delegation. Both sides introduced their institutional profiles, educational philosophies, and internationalization strategies. President Yang proposed collaboration in undergraduate joint training, faculty exchanges, and joint research projects, urging prompt finalization of a formal agreement. Vice President Sutha Kraisuwan expressed strong support for the proposed initiatives and pledged to expedite drafting the cooperation framework.
Delegation Visits Chiang Rai Rajabhat University
This visit proved highly productive, strengthening DTC’s ties with Thai universities. It provided valuable resources and platforms for expanding educational, cultural, and technological exchanges under the Belt and Road Initiative, enhancing the college’s international competitiveness, and advancing its goal of becoming a leading border university in Yunnan Province.
