From October 30 to November 4, 2024, Yunnan Dehong Sepak Takraw Invitational Tournament of Lancang-Mekong Cooperation, jointly organized by the Yunnan Provincial Sports Bureau, the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Yunnan Province, and the People’s Government of Dehong Prefecture, Yunnan Province, concluded successfully. With strong support from the Dehong Teachers' College, the college’s Sepak Takraw team, jointly prepared by the School of Physical Education, the School of Humanities, and the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange, participated in the event. Led by Su Junguo, Vice President of DTC, and coached by Yin Gongzi from the School of Physical Education, the team showcased exceptional skill and teamwork during the five-day competition, ultimately securing two runner-up titles and bringing honor to the college.
The tournament featured intense competition among top Sepak Takraw teams from countries and regions along Lancang-Mekong River, as well as domestic university teams. Undeterred by formidable opponents, DTC team demonstrated relentless determination, technical prowess, and outstanding coordination, advancing triumphantly to the finals.
The two runner-up achievements are a testament to the team’s long-term dedication and rigorous training. They also highlight the remarkable outcomes of the college’s commitment to sports education. Dehong Teachers' College has consistently prioritized physical education, offering students diverse athletic activities, professional coaching, and opportunities to cultivate sportsmanship and competitive spirit.
Beyond a sporting event, the tournament served as a vital platform for cultural exchange and collaboration among Lancang-Mekong countries and regions. DTC team engaged in mutual learning and friendship-building with other participants, fostering cross-cultural understanding.
Moving forward, Dehong Teachers' College will continue to invest in sports education, encouraging broader students’ participation in athletics and nurturing outstanding talents.
